Episode 42: Subterranean

Every system generates waste heat – a surplus of energy that does not fit within the system's logic. What happens when that energy spills outward? This question lies at the heart of our group exhibition Subterranean. Bringing together five contemporary artistic positions, the exhibition explores the hidden pressures and tensions that shape our everyday lives. In episode 42 of our Im Kunstraum podcast, Kunstraum’s Artistic Director Frederike Sperling speaks with the exhibition’s curators, Aditi Kapoor and Sarah Johanna Theurer, about how the idea for Subterranean first emerged and which artistic media and strategies particularly interested them in the development of the show. The two curators also guide listeners through the exhibition, offering an audio tour and introducing the featured works in detail.
